Kathmandu, famously known as the city of temples, offers you with lots of arts and architecture prevailing throughout the years in the form of temples, statues, monasteries, lifestyles and cultural enrichments.

Focusing on them we make a trip to sites having cultural as well as religious significance listed by UNESCO in the world heritage list. We start from Pashupatinath Temple which follows Boudhanath Stupa and then Swayambhunath Temple followed by Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The oldest (established in the 17th century) and the most visited shrine by Hindus, Pashupatinath temple, located along the bank of Holy River Bagmati definitely is tantalizing for its collection of temples, idols and inscriptions prevailing over the centuries.

Being one of the largest stupas in South Asia, Boudhanath stupa stands out as one of the finest forms of ancient architecture with the watchful eyes of Buddha fixed at the central tower. It not only reflects Nepali architecture but you can also appreciate the monasteries built around the area by neighbor Tibetans merchants and Tibetan refugees over the years.

Situated on the top of a hill posing both Hindu and Buddhist illustrations, Swayambhunath makes it a must visit the shrine for all the visitors rounding Kathmandu. Famously known as a Monkey Temple among foreigners you will be patrolled by the troops of monkey while descending through numerous steps to the pilgrimage site.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, situated at the heart of Kathmandu city and listed by UNESCO probably is heart throbbing in the sense that it reflects the most spectacular legacy of traditional architecture. Being the site where once the kings were crowned and legitimized before ruling from the same place, it showcases durbar (meaning palace) and temples as well as fine forms of arts and architecture prevailing throughout the years.
